Piter de Jong, is now Senior Policy Advisor at The Netherlands Enterprise Agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He is responsible for multiple development projects in Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and ASEAN countries.

He graduated from Nyenrode University in 1992. Then he started to serve ABM AMRO Bank till 1998 as Treasury Sales in the Bank’s Head Office in Amsterdam. He came to China in 1998 and served as Head of Treasury for CommerzBank Shanghai till 2002. In the mean time he was also elected as Chairman of the Labor Union by the Bank staff. Since 2003 he joined ING bank and served as Managing Director and Branch Manager Shanghai till 2016. Under his leadership ING Shanghai is one of the most profitable foreign bank branches in China. He was elected as Board Member for European Union Chamber of Commerce in China in 2007-2010, and Shanghai Chairman in 2010-2013. During this period he initiated the Chamber’s regular dialogues with Shanghai Finance Office, Shanghai Custom, MOFCOM Shanghai, Shanghai Development & Reform Committee.

In 2009 he was awarded Golden Magnolia by the Mayor of Shanghai due to his dedication and contribution to the city’s economic and social development. In 2012 he was awarded China Permanent Resident Status ( China Greencard ). On May 22, 2014 as one of the distinguished foreign experts he was invited to meet President Xi Jinping in Shanghai. On February 5, as one of the national foreign experts he was invited to meet Premier Li Keqiangin Beijing.

Piter de Jong speaks fluent Chinese in addition to his fluency in English, Dutch and German . He is an insightful opinion leader in China related business issues. He is also a constant speaker in Conferences and Universities.
